8 Romantic Cities that Make the Perfect Honeymoon Destination

Cover

Getting the most out of your honeymoon is quite challenging, especially if we consider the fact that there’s a lot – and I do mean a lot – of places trying to create the very best offer. Naturally, your choice should depend on what you’re looking for in a honeymoon. While some people want to go with the classic romantic option, others prefer to have their first adventure as a couple in a historic destination.

Throughout the world, options are diverse, so I’m sure that you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for. Most newlywed couples decide to go with widely known spots, without even doing their research, which I believe is a huge mistake. You two should at least explore your options before you set your mind on a certain location, so check out my list!

1. Paris, France

Paris

Although some consider it a stereotype, it goes without saying that Paris is the romantic capital of the world. There are a lot of girls out there who adore this sparkly city, and I’m sure that it’s on the first place of numerous “where I want to go on my honeymoon” lists.

Being this desirable, Paris is considered to be quite pricey – that is if you decide to stay in a five star hotel, eat nothing but caviar, and drink only champagne. On the other hand, if you rent a cozy apartment where you can enjoy full privacy, prepare your own meals together and explore this seductive city, I’m sure that the overall price of your honeymoon will be much more reasonable.

2. Florence, Italy

Florence

This magnificent city is also known as the birthplace of the Renaissance – where better to start your life together than in the very place where art itself once went through a rebirth? Its cultural significance is beyond measure, and Florence still has a strong influence in Northern Italy.

If you two share the same cultural enthusiasm, this is a great place to deepen your relationship further. It doesn’t really matter if you decide to go to Florence during summer or winter, because it looks amazing any time of the year, and there’s a lot going on no matter when you visit.

3. Dubrovnik, Croatia

This mysterious old city will leave you breathless. The old part of Dubrovnik is built in the 16th century and it breathes with tradition and the spirit of vivid history, so you’ll definitely have some exploring to do.

Located on the Adriatic Sea, Dubrovnik has wonderful natural beaches, where you can spend some time together and unwind. There’s an interesting fun fact you’ll probably be happy to hear if you’re a Game of Thrones fan – all scenes of King’s Landing from the show are filmed right here, so you might expect to see some of your favorite celebrities.

4. Ko Tao, Thailand

Ko Tao

Although it has no more than twenty one square kilometers, more than one hundred thousand travelers visit this island every year – it’s practically a paradise. It doesn’t really matter whether you’re on a backpacking budget or you want to have a luxurious honeymoon, Ko Tao will have the perfect offer for you.

This little slice of paradise is located in Southern Thailand and when translated, it literally means Turtle Island. And there’s a lot to choose from – you can find a small piece of beach for just the two of you, or if you decide to mingle and have fun, you can visit one of the more crowded beaches with a lot of activities.

5. Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto

If you decide to have your honeymoon in the former capital of Japan, you’ll feel like you have left this planet and went to a stunningly peaceful spot that’s completely separated from all the fuss and hectic lifestyle we’re all so badly used to.

In Kyoto, you’ll be surrounded by traditional wooden buildings, palaces where once royal dynasties lived and spiritual Buddhist temples which are all in perfect harmony with nature. Quite wonderful, especially if you’re looking for a place where you can connect on a really deep level.

6. Punta del Este, Uruguay

Punta del Este

On the other hand – if you consider yourselves to be a modern couple – you should explore a destination like Punta del Este because it’s everything that urban newlyweds could ask for. Located on the Atlantic Coast in South America, this resort is a real treat for those who enjoy luxury.

You should also know that Punta del Este has an amazing nightlife, so if you’re into clubbing and staying out until dawn, you should look no further, because I’m sure the two of you will have a lot of fun here.

7. New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

New Orleans French Quarter

Speaking of nightlife – this spot where French, American and African culture clashed together in Louisiana and created a diversity of vibrant music and vivid culture should definitely be taken into consideration.

If you decide to go to New Orleans for your honeymoon, although this place isn’t really what you’d call a common honeymoon destination, you’ll be able to enjoy absolutely delicious food and lots of it, participate in different cultural events and have a lot of fun partying and even joining a wild carnival.

8. Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum

If you two are up for an adventure, and you’d like to share your first married days discovering and learning, Turkey would be perfect for you, especially Bodrum. When it comes to trying new things, you can be positive that their culture and lifestyle in general will leave you amazed.

Learning about their ways is just one aspect of visiting Bodrum – this welcoming people will make you feel right at home. You can look forward to listening to all kinds of live music, making new friends and some great memories as well.

That pretty much covers it. Instead of ending up with the same photos practically all newlyweds have, you’ll have unforgettable memories and a lot of stories to share when visiting one of these locations.
