The Top 4 Reasons You Should Believe in Yourself

how to believe in yourself

Your experience in life is based upon what you believe. Since the moment of your birth, you have been programmed to accept certain things as truth, and to reject others as unacceptable. The reality of this is all based upon who it is that has been doing the programming. Most likely its: Mom & Dad, teachers, relatives, friends, celebrities, authors, songwriters, and whoever catches your fancy on the internet-all well-meaning entities.

The good news and the bad news: these sources also shape what you believe about yourself, and whether you believe in yourself at all.

Here are 5 great reasons you really should believe in yourself:

You were created to be successful.

As Shakespeare said: “What a piece of work is man…”

It’s really true. Your mind, body, and soul are the finest examples of a true work of art- with capabilities you have yet to even imagine. Your brain is the greatest processing device ever created, and you have yet to use more than a tiny, tiny percentage of its power. You have been given the tools to win.

You’re better/stronger than you think.

We all have a tendency to remember our defeats and lowest moments much more clearly that we recall our triumphs. We store those painful experiences in living color and stereo, while the victories are scratchy mono black and white images.

If you go inside the “vault” of your memories, and really apply yourself, you’ll see thousands and thousands of acts of kindness, bravery, nobility, creativity, loyalty, and more that you have generated. Heroic stuff. Yes, there are some dark deeds in there- but enough shining moments that, in review, will remind you just how great and how worthy of belief you are.

You’ve been lied to about yourself.

In your head, 24/7, there is a voice narrating the action of your life. I call that voice “the announcer.”  You may have been led to believe that voice is you- but it’s not. It is merely an announcer commenting on the action. The problem is - that voice says things that just aren’t true about you. It uses words like “stupid”, “fat”, “frightened”, “not good enough” and more- and that is simply not the case. The truth is, you have done what you thought was best moment to moment, and you hope to do better each day, but “stupid” and “not good enough” simply have nothing to do with it.

And how can you place your belief in someone stupid who isn’t good enough?

Fire the announcer-  and adjust your truth.

You are in charge of your experience.

You want to be successful? Decide that you are. Success is not measured by material possessions, nor is happiness. What better measure is there of beauty,  value, health, and other important elements of life than how you feel? And you are in charge of how you feel… regardless of what’s in your bank account, or what the local paper is saying about you. It’s your life… it’s your choice. To be-lieve or not to be-lieve… that is the question.

Believe.
