Break These 4 Rules To Create Happiness

Break These 4 Rules To Create Happiness

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. - Dalai Lama

You've heard the saying before.... Rules are made to be broken, right? Well the same thing applies here.

Indeed rules ARE made to be broken, especially if you expect to create happiness for yourself.

A lack of happiness in most cases is a result of abiding to rules, being a victim to the rules and playing by the rules too obediently.

Break these 4 rules to create happiness, and you'll be wondering why you never broke them sooner.

1. Speak your mind and state your opinions.

When you give yourself permission to communicate what matters to you in every situation you will have peace, despite rejection or disapproval. Putting a voice to your soul helps you to let go of the negative energy of fear and regret. ― Shannon L. Alder

You might not see this as a "rule" to be broken, but I assure you it is within the society we live in.

Just look at all the people who are being criticized in this world or having people point fingers at them.

It's those who speak up, speak out and let their voices be heard. Not the individual who's too afraid to express his or her opinions.

Malcolm X, Snoop Dogg, Donald Trump, 2Pac and Martin Luther King are just a few of those fearless people.

Holding back actually makes you less confident and less happy because you end up afraid of being criticized for it.

Speak your mind freely and you'll be much happier as a result.

2. Say NO more often.

The problem with human beings, we're prone to saying "yes" when we're asked to do a favor.

We even say "yes" to things that we know deep down won't bring us satisfaction. Or worse. We do things that go against our beliefs and violate our authenticity.

Do that often enough and you'll be throwing up the feelings of unhappiness on a daily basis.

You have to protect your time the same way a driver protects their money with car insurance.

Say yes only when it's relevant and weigh up each request or opportunity that comes your way.

You'll find it makes a massive difference to your happiness and how you feel about yourself.

3. Be a little selfish.

Sometimes you have to be selfish to be selfless. - Edward Albert

Another surprising rule many people are uncomfortable with breaking. Usually because of the negative label that's attached to being selfish.

What If I told you being selfish is not only good for you, but good for others around you?

What If I told you being selfish can make you a happier person inside and out?

Think about it this way.

  • If you're too busy putting others before yourself, you won't have time for YOU.
  • If you're make too much time for others, you can't make time for yourself.
  • If you make others a priority, you and your needs are no longer a priority.

And If you're not a priority, you won't have time left to make yourself happy and do the things that add to your happiness.

Be a little selfish and never forget to treat yourself as good as you'd treat others. Self love is important.

4. Do the things you believe in.

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe. - Saint Augustine

When you get in your own way and back down from the things you believe in, you cause yourself grief.

Lets say you were sat at a black, glass table with 6 chairs and 6 people. And there was a debate on a topic you feel strongly about.

What would happen If you didn't express yourself?

It would Irritate you a little, right? It would almost feel wrong to not express your view on the matter.

When you make a habit out of that as a result of not wanting to be criticized for it, it kills you a little inside.

And that leads to a sense of unhappiness and inadequacy.

That's why making the habit of doing what you believe in is crucial to being happy.

Breaking this 1 simple rule will make a huge difference to your attitude.
